Pediatric dentistry is a specialized dental field that focuses on identifying, preventing, and treating oral growth and developmental issues in infants, children, and adolescents (up to age 14), addressing not only their physical needs but also their psychological and emotional well-being. Pediatric dental care includes the management of dental caries (restorations and pulp therapy), professional preventive care, surgical treatments for children (such as supernumerary teeth and odontomas), management of maxillofacial growth and tooth eruption disorders, treatment of oral and dental trauma, prevention and treatment of malocclusion, as well as oral care and preventive management for patients with systemic conditions.
